" From Fire and Ashes"
Watercolorist Cherl Halverson and potter Lezlie Finet
have teamed up to present "From Fire and Ashes". Their
work dispays their unique views of the power & fury of
fire, and the re-growth from the ashes, as well as the
beauty & usefulness of fire for civilization since the
beginning...
Cheryl's watermedia and collage work document the
aftermath of the 2000 Montana fires from a very personal
perspective. All paintings in this series are done with
Primatek watercolors--old-fashioned pigments derived
from natural minerals but milled with modern methods
here in the Northwest by Daniel Smith of Seattle.
Lezlie experiments with several primitive firing methods,
utilizing burnishing & pit-firing methods, rather than
modern glazes & kilns.
